Aslan Projects was started in 2006 by Dennis Frederickson and Leah Yauck. Leah came from a trades background, with training and experience in the small water systems industry and commercial construction, and Dennis had just finished working on a series of commercial construction projects.
Commercial construction is where we developed our reputation for reliability and craftsmanship, designing and renovating the interiors of many well-known Vancouver restaurants and nightclubs. The experience taught us how to bring creative flair and high-quality construction to projects, within tight deadlines and budgets.
Aslan’s finishing and construction skills were behind many venues known for their unique ambience, including a series of restaurants in Vancouver, Whistler, and San Francisco owned by well-known restaurateur, Umberto Menghi, and 16 of Vancouver’s best-known nightclubs. With each project, we balanced the need to build spaces that were fresh, on-trend, and unique, with the need to deliver well-built environments that could withstand high traffic.
Our reputation for creating destination venues led to residential renovation and new construction work for clients who admired our projects – and even a private pavilion for Canadian Pacific Railway in Whistler at the 2010 Olympics.

Along the way, we developed a project management system that allowed us to preplan construction for minimal disruption to our clients, complete high-quality work to strict deadlines, and track project budgets with accuracy. To ensure that Aslan’s project management practices were making best use of available technology, Leah completed her BA in Information Technology for Construction Management.
Today, with the addition of two part-time CPAs and an estimating department, Aslan continues to take on commercial projects in Metro Vancouver, along with residential renovations and new home construction – with a special focus on projects south of the Fraser, where we live. We’re using the creativity, expertise and project management skills that helped us create some of Vancouver’s best-known venues to help homeowners achieve their dreams.
